Are You Prepared For An Interview?
Wednesday January 7, 2009
When you start an Australia job search, you should be prepared for an interview from the very beginning. If you went into your Australia job search with the mindset that you would have to wait a long time before you got an interview, you need to change that attitude. Your Australia job search will be brief and will end with the best possible result. Thus, you need to be prepared for an interview immediately.
Do you know your background?
If you know your background intimately, then all you need do to prepare for interview questions is to work out how that background relates to the job you are being interviewed for. Remember not to fall for the big trap when you know your background, though - when asked to tell the interviewer about yourself, keep it brief and to the point. Focus on your career rather than on yourself.
Do you know the organisation?
The more you know about the organisation you are being interviewed by, the better. It will allow you to easily work out what they value, as well as devise good questions to ask them in your interview.
Do you have the other essentials?
You need appropriate clothing on hand at all times, a schedule with enough flexibility for interviews, and the means to get to interviews on time. Don't just assume - make sure you are prepared.
